Of course we need to crop the images you've uploaded to make sure all the images has the same size.
If we don't do that, the layouts will look broken because each posts can has each different featured image size. If you don't want to featured images get crop on the layouts, please use images with the ratio width/height = 3/2.

My thumbnail on the homepage looks like this (on a random post) - First attachment
even tho the image is this: - second attachment
and the thumbnail is set to look like this: - Third attachment
You can see that the image is cropped a bit or resized on the post on the homepage.

1/ You can change the ratio width/height for Penci Slider via Customize > Featured Slider Options to get Penci Slider crop the images like ratio as you want.
2/ Can you show me your site URL and tell me what wrong there - please detail about this?

Hello,
Pencislider, somehow, resizes my photos and crops them no matter what I do.
I've tried making the image the same resolution as recommended.
(The image should be between 1600px - 2000px in width and have a minimum height of 650px for best results.)
Animations of pencisliders are cancelled on my ipad as well. They work just fine on my laptop!
Also, I am having some troubles with featured images.. I can't find a way to crop they right! Can you tell me how to crop thumbnails/featured images?
