OK it's close but still not quite so (wish the date was up where the rest of the meta is located) I will ask the client what they want to do.

I think you can try with "Penci Latest Posts" element
It's good for your case.

My client would like category to be included in the meta so that we can have author, date, and category. I am using the Penci Featured Category widget and not specifying a category and showing only 1 post. I just want to highlight the latest post in a large size and I like this format. Attached is what the meta currently looks like and category is not an option to add. Maybe there is a better widget that looks like this one but has category included?
Is this easily possible?
