Hi,
We've used auto-update platform from WP-Updates: http://wp-updates.com/ and it seems the updates flatform from them has issues and they didn't fixed it yet.
We're waiting for some weeks but they didn't fixed the issues, so maybe in the next updates, we will remove this flatform.
And from future, please do following this guide to update this theme - It's easy also and doesn't affect anything to your site:

Hello,
We have been unable to update PenNews. We initially thought this was a licensing issue so we purchased another license, however we have been unable to implement the new license and continue to receive the following error message:
"An error occurred while updating PenNews: The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature"
Would you please assist us with fixing this?
