Hi,
It's Query from Elementor itslef - we can't change it
Another solution for you: filter by use Tags. Let's do following steps:
1/ Create a new tag: example "featured"
2/ Add this tag for all the post you want to display on the slider.
3/ Go to edit the slider > and filter your slider by use Tag - check this image: http://prntscr.com/s0n7ww
