You can ignore this question and close the ticket please. I worked a way around this by creating a navigation menu instead; rather than displaying the categories.

Hello - I created a few sub categories (child category) to create the mega menu but now these categories are also appearing in the category list in sidebar. Can you please give me a code or tell me a way to not have these show in the sidebar?
I created those child categories only for the purpose of creating mega menu. I do not want those to show separately. Just the parent category should reflect in the sidebar.
