I would just like to keep the content organized as is without new posts disrupting the order of what I want to feature on the home page. I would like to feature the posts in the order of relevance to what is going on in the business at that time and what is most important, not in the order of date posting.
I guess the easiest way to do this would be to keep changing the publishing date so they are in the order I want them?

Yes that worked, but it puts a banner title on top and there is no option to keep it as a boxed style post if it is featured on the magazine style homepage. Now the posts are just square and aligned to the left. I like how the site looks with the alternating boxed posts. Is there any other way to do this?

Hi,
If you want to keep this style for magazine layout, please go to Customize > Homepage Options > and check to "Enable Featured Categories for All Layouts - Not for Magazine Layouts Only"

I'm sorry, just a little confused. I have the homepage layout selected as "boxed". Do I need to select magazine style layout 1 or 2 in order to accomplish this? I really like the look of the boxed style. Can I still keep that ?

No, you don't need to use static homepage. Let's check the video tutorial and you will see everything makes via Customizer.

I did watch that tutorial. Does that mean I have to make a static homepage? I would like to use the most recent post from my main categories as you scroll down the page.

Hi,
You can check this video tutorial to know how to config homepage magazine layout.
But, for now this theme doesn't support boxed style format on featured categories layout.
We will consider to add more this feature in the future updates.

I would like to feature the latest post in each of my main categories on my homepage. Right now I have the boxed layout setting in Soledad Simple set for latest posts. For example, I would like to have my next upcoming event, my monthly inspirational message and the latest news featured in boxed style format on the homepage.
