So what is the best way to do this without messing with the formatting? I really only want one article because it has so many comments on it. Is there a way to just import singular posts?

Hi,
Please go to admin page > Tools > export > to export your settings on the main site.
After that, go to admin page > Tools > Import > select "WordPress" > import .xml file you got above to the subdomain site.

I am developing my new site with Soledad on a subdomain. The only content I would like to take with me is my blog. How do I upload my entire blog to the subdomain?
