Try "Child Theme Configurator" plugin to copy your settings to a child theme, then instal the update the way they suggest.

Hello, how do I update my theme?

I do not have a child theme created. Other WP themes auto update. How do I add this functionality?

I would like to update, but I do not want to lose any of my customisation.
