Hi,
If you feed the block widgets editor that is hard to edit & modify, you can install the plugin Classic Widgets to back to the old edit widgets screen.

But all I did was make a top post widget, and then I pressed the arrow to get it up to the tops of the widget. so I pressed on publish. and then the theme messed up? now the page runs a little slow and strange.

Hi,
It seems you did something that caused the mess up, because the theme doesn't auto do that.
Maybe you can scroll down to the bottom and check with the "In Active Widgets" to see your old widgets there or not, then drag it back to your sidebars.
