This issue caused by you did enable lazyload images from Jetpack plugin - Let's disable it. This theme has this feature from itself, so you don't need to use this feature.

I'm not sure what I changed, but rather than seeing the featured images on category pages, I'm just seeing a large gray box. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
