Hi,
Do you mean remove all the featured images for all posts? If yes, you can use this CSS code:
.penci_media_object .penci-image-holder{
display: none;

Hi,
Unfortunately, there are no options to add the default featured image by category, but you can install the Default Featured Image plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/default-featured-image/

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm still getting some that are not pulling an image.
How about if it's not possible to remove the placeholder box, is it possible to add a default featured image by category for those that do not have an image?

Hi,
Unfortunately, there is no option to remove the placeholder photo on PenNews. If you don't upload the featured image, you can select the first image as a featured image by going to Appearance → Customize → General Options → Check the Use the first image in the post as featured image.

Some of my posts have Featured images and some do not. I would like them all to, but that is not always true. Is there a way for this "placeholder" not to show? See attached.
