Hi,

The current version of PenNews already supports this feature, please go to Appearance → Customize → Topbar Options → Login & Register: check the "Show Sign In / Join" option.

Yes, a unique login for WP plugins (forum, buddypress, woocommerce) installed on top of pennews.
