You can change the default settings for the default page template go to Appearance > Customize > Pages > Page Header > turn off the "Enable Page Header for Pages" option.

I created a shop landing page .
the #### default template #### keeps adding feature image to the page.
I removed the page feature image.
but the default template puts the feature image back in.
Problem requires a fix
