Yeah, if you want to do that, you need to hire someone to help you because currently this theme doesn't support this feature.
Also, I recommend you shouldn't do that because on the footer widget area, the width is 1170px, if you makes 6 columns on this, it's too small and you won't see anything.

On this I only have the option to a few - is there anyway of creating 6 columns in this? If so, will this need to be done by a web developer or is it possible to amend this on the theme?

Please go to Appearance > Widgets > drag & drop widget you want to "Footer Column #3"
Also, you can change layout for your footer widgets area via Customize > Footer Options

Hello. Currently we have 3 columns in our footer. (Currently containing an About section and Access section) We would like to have 3 columns instead of 3. How can we go about this? Thank you!
