Do I need to add a messaging code in fields section?

Mail chimp plug in, I can't seem to get my messaging for "after you subscribe" to show. Once someone subscribes on our page, it should prompt a message stating "Thank you, your sign-up request was successful! Please check your email inbox to confirm." However, the page reloads and no messaging comes up.
