You need to copy full your google analytics code and paste it to Customize > Footer Options > Google Analytics Code

Hi,
I tried adding the UA-code from Google Analytics via the Footer options (after updating the theme), as advised below but it doesn't work. Google doesn't see it and strangely enough, the code actually shows up in the new privacy policy footer pop-up. Any ideas?

Hi,
Yeah, you can add this there. But, I recommend you add it via Customize > Footer Options > Google Analytics Code.

Does the 'Add custom code inside the <head> tag under customise>logo and header options put the google analytics code on every page of my site, or do I have to add it in multiple places?
