Please understand that the focus point you selected only works on the Square thumbnail size. It does not work on the Horizontal/Standard size because those display the original image size instead of a resized version.

In the cover photo, I set the focal point of the photo—for example, a face. See the screenshot I've attached. After focusing the crosshair on the face, the post thumbnails would regenerate. The face would then be visible on the category page. Now this has stopped working.

For the archive page, you need to set the thumbnail size to Square by going to Appearance → Customize → General → General Settings → Featured Images Type and selecting the Square Size option.

Hi,
I did as you suggested, but it caused the cover photo on the post page to be cropped.
I want to properly crop the photos in the post category, which is here:

Note that the photos in the post list are cropped centrally. I want to center the photo on the face.

If you want to display a single photo with a custom cropping point, you need to change the single post featured image size to a fixed size.
Go to Appearance → Customize → Single Posts → General → Custom Image Size for Featured Image and select the "penci-slider-thumb" option.
Your current setting is showing the full image size, so the photo is displayed at its original ratio with the center as the focal point on the front-end.

Good morning,
The photo cropping feature on my blog has broken. When editing a post, I select the cover photo, select the head (or eyes) as the crosshair (focus point), and save the changes.
However, the change is still not visible, and the photos are cropped by default (centered).

Could the Lite Speed Cache plugin be related to this? Everything worked fine before, and I was also using Lite Speed Cache.
