how to keep customized settings when updating to 4.0?

Hi!
I want to upgrade to 4.0 and keep all the customized settings I've made in the wordpress appearance panel (colors, fonts, menu settings etc). If I follow this guide https://pencidesign.ticksy.com/article/11313/ will I still have my customized setting? If not, how do I upgrade to 4.0 and keep my settings?
