Unfortunately, You can't do that.
But, I think you can install Penci Recipe like normal and use Recipe Index normal.
You can use Recipe Index from Penci Recipe plugins without use Recipe card from Penci Recipe plugin.

Is it possible to use the recipe index feature without using penci's recipe plugin? I downloaded this theme recently and was using another recipe plugin already. At this point, I do not want to have to redo my recipes. But I'm very interested in the recipe index.
