Hi,
Do you want change background on small thumbnail as screenshot
If right, please go to Customize > Addtional CSS then add custom css to do that:
.penci_gallery.style-1 .owl-item.current .penci-small-thumb,
.penci_gallery.style-1 .owl-item:hover .penci-small-thumb {
background: #000;
}
You can change color #000 to any color you want.
