Just to clarify, i currently have the posts set us "private" so once they are public, then I will be OK and the system will recognize them?

Because your categories doesn't exists any posts. Please add posts for categories and it will appears.

I am entering Appearance > Customizing> Homepage Options and when I scroll down to the section: "Display Homepage Popular Posts for A Category" the drop down menu, that initially says "-Select-" doesn't have any categories, while on the backend, I have 5 categories.
Similarly, in Appearance > Customizing> Featured Slider Options, under "Select Featured Slider" I cannot use the drop down menu at all, just like in the previous example.
I'm fairly certain that I may have the same problem in other drop down feature category menus, if they come up.
What is the issue I must correct? Thank you!
